Introduction The interview process is the gateway to basically fill a position from a company. The function of an interview is to assess candidate’s skills to pertinent questions that are necessary to fill in the needs of an organization. Fact of the matter is, structuring an effective and efficient interview process is not really basic, for it entails ethical, legal and moral considerations with each question asked. Since we would cover up ten questions in this elective, the two criteria’s that I am going to include as a ranking score would be a confidence rating scale in which to scale the level of confidence the way each candidate answers the question and a question satisfaction rating scale in which for each person that conducts the interview will also rank the level of satisfaction on each question that had been answered by the interviewee (Pulakos, 1997). Both scales would be scaled from 1 to 5 in which 1 would be the lowest attainable score and 5 would be the hig hest. This then would make up a perfect score of 100 points as confidence would make up a total perfect score of 50 points for ten the questions and also the same with satisfaction. In the end of each question there would be a space provide to write any important notes on why or why not they are the best candidate for the position. Concerns about addictions and drug use have been an ongoing battle for several years, especially for adolescents. There are still controversies about how and why an individual becomes addicted to a substance. Family members and loved ones of the addicted individual continue to ask why this individual continuously chooses to go back to the drug, no matter what the consequences are. To this day, research has opened our eyes to new possibilities, new explanations, and new interventions in order to help us start answering some of the many questions out there about addiction. Ralph assigned roles that needed to be completed on a daily basis to everyone, and they had to learn to work together in order to survive on the island. The boys have social conversations to keep up with plans and duties. Ralph’s priorities were to build shelters and keep a fire going for a smoke signal; these tasks would help the group to be rescued. With the thought of them never returning home, the group became stressed, angered and scared. Soon enough everything began to transform. The rules did not matter anymore, and Jack neglected the tasks that he was told to complete.He wanted to be the leader. Without rules, they became more savage. This just goes to show, that people need a system of rules and regulations. As savagery grows within each and every member, the sensation of wanting to kill grows as well. Simon was murdered by the pierce of the spears by the littl’uns and the choir boys. â€Å"There’s too much talking out of turn, because we can’t have proper assemblies if you don’t stick to the rules. † (Golding. page-98) This quote was said by Ralph, this shows that the boys are inactively controlled. With the boys forgetting their main goal, they get more captivated into finding meat and survival on he island. Society can change many things, population, groups, friends, and civilization. Influence affects the human mind; it is an example of a person to be easily manipulated as to be controlled. Influence has taken its affect in many ways, peer pressure, a feeling to belong and inspiration. Influence has an effect on Ralph since that he is the leader, he tells everyone what to do in order to survive. But now that everything changed, and Jack is the leader of the hunters, there has been more chaos. Jack influences others to join his side of the group by using the fear of the beast, against the boys.The littl’uns always believed that they weren’t alone on this island. As the thought kept occurring, they decided to find out if the beast was existent. They took the pigs head and placed it in the forest, where they will capture the beast and hunt it down. â€Å"They didn’t know that the beast was no more than a mere human a pilot. † (Golding, Page-151), Jack is also known to be a confident leader, this is why the boys chose to follow him, he also believes in himself which allows the others to do the same. Both groups fight against each other for survival. Jacks group start to chase after one opportunity, to capture Piggy.Even though most of the boys don’t believe that there is a beast in the forest. Later on the littl’uns made them think, most of the boys were influenced in believing that there was a beast living on the island with them. Individuality represents a descriptive personality and makes them their own person. The boys stranded on the island are different from each other; they must work together and use all their skills and power to help each other to be able to survive. â€Å"We can do all right on our own can’t we? † (Golding. 145) the quote has a deep meaning into it, not just to rely on each other but to rely on ourselves and learn to be independent.It shows that the boys are fairly frightened for the upcoming event. Everyone leads themselves in their own paths. The decisions we make are personal. When piggy told Ralph his name, he was willing to take the risk and entrust Ralph that he wouldn’t tell anyone. Ralph told everyone what Piggy’s name was and that was Ralphs fault because he chose to say something very important to Piggy, and it hurts Piggy’s feelings. Ralph can easily lose piggy’s trust because of the choice he made. Even the point of where Jack decided to split apart was his own decision but it would’ve been best that they all stick together.From them parting away from each other the two groups now fight against each other risking a high chance of death. As a result, leaders have to face challenges in maintaining an effective coordination. However, based on the issue identified within the marketing department of Woolworths the team leaders have recommended some of the members for receiving an effective training session on communication skill as well as communication skill. As already mentioned, team members of marketing department of Woolworths are from diverse cultural backgrounds and attitudes. Therefore, communication barrier among the team members have become a major issue for rendering organizational success. The team leaders of Woolworths based on the communication style and approach have identified several members (Miner, 2015). Those members are decided to refer to the human resource managers for attending an effective training and career development plan on communication skill. Decision making process: Based on the decision making process success of a business organization is highly dependent. Woolworths likes to take an effective collaborative decision by involving the employees towards services. Team leader of marketing department does not like to take autocratic decision without making any communication with the employees (Struve, 2015). A proper decision should be taken by involving every team member associated with marketing department. T7 model of team effectiveness implies that team leader while supporting the team tends to follow several phases that include task (execute successfully), thrust ( push towards proper direction of business objectives), trust (on each other), talent (show skills) and teaming (operate by taking every single talent). This particular model helps the team leader in directing the team members towards proper goal. Team effectiveness is highly important in rendering the success of business (Ahmad et al., 2014). Both the organizational manager and the employees can give their best services by following this model. Conclusion The study has provided detailed overview about the impact of effective team performance in rendering the overall success of business. The study has focused to select Woolworths as the business firm. The marketing department of Woolworths in quest of providing effective services should follow specific strategies and policies. My role is to become an effective team leader who has to provide immense support and cooperation in rendering the success of business. Alexander decided not to first attack Persia but capture Egypt who is ruled by Persia at that time where he stayed with his army for six months and he had to betray his culture and custom as a way of earning respect. Inclusive education means all students in a school, regardless of their strengths, weaknesses, or disabilities, are part of the general school community. They have a feeling of belonging among other students, educators, and support staff. (VERDEL BISHOP). Inclusive learning is treating learners as individual and catering for needs for equally. Provisions should be made so that all learners are able to participate in all activities regardless of age, gender, religion, disability etc. The learners needs are often highlighted when negotiating with learners at the start of the course. It is then up to the educator to see, these are met. Such as, if a learner needs wheelchair access, the educator would need to make sure that there was a ramp in the building, disabled toilets, that a desk could be raised to allow for the wheelchair etc. If the learner has special educational needs (SEN) then there may be a need for a learning support assistant to be in the class too. The initial discussion would also give you an insight to their prior knowledge, motivation, cultural expectations and their results of the initial assessment would show their Literacy and numeracy need if any. The marketing material and polices and brochure from establishments should take into consideration the diverse audience. A few decades ago the world of education was very exercised by the forerunner of differentiation which was called mixed ability teaching. Then people began to realise it was not just ability that could be mixed and that educators had to cope with a plethora of differences: learning style, age, motivation, prior learning and experience, gender, specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, and so on. Dr. Stephen Hawking has been considered to be more brilliant then Einstein. Dr. Hawking was born on January 8 1942 in Oxford, England on the 300th anniversary of Galileo’s death. Is this a coincidence? After his studies at St. Albans School, he attended University College, Oxford. He wanted to study Mathematics, but because it was unavailable at Oxford, he concentrated on Physics and earned a degree in Natural Science three years later. Stephen went on to Cambridge to do research in Cosmology. After attaining his Ph.D., he became a Professorial Fellow at Gonville and Caius College. He left the Institute of Astronomy to become a professor at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at Cambridge. He has held the post of Lacasian Professor of Mathematics since 1979. In the early 1960’s, Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with the dreadful disease Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (A.L.S.), an incurable degenerative neuromuscular disease, also known as Lou Gerh ig’s Disease. He has been paralyzed unable to use every muscle in his body. The only muscles he has use of are those around his eyes. This explains why Hawking has become a theoretician rather than a â€Å"hands-on† scientist. He spends hour after hour in his wheelchair pondering complex ideas and formulating mind bobbling equations in his head. Dr. Hawking’s work is primarily in the field of general relativity and in particular on the physics of black holes. He uses his theory on the origin of black holes to help explain the creation of the universe. In 1971 he suggested the formation (following the big bang), of numerous objects containing as much as 1,000,000,000 tons of mass but occupying only the space of a proton. There is no denying that instant text messaging is very important in our live. Most of us could not even imagine our daily life without texting. This is the quickest and easiest method of communication, most popular among young people. Several years ago to suddenly organize with friends was quite difficult, especially when our friends lived in different part of the city. Currently we need only a few minutes to send them all messages in the blink of an eye to determine where and what we will do. Text massages helps us a lot, but seems to me that in some sense also limit our ability to conduct interviews in private. Some people use short messages to break out the relationship or even layoff someone from work. Texting is also changing the importance of grammar and correct spelling and the most importantly it easily distract us very quickly. People who use text messages often are more likely to lose the habit of conversation in private. When we talking with someone through text messages, our ability to decipher what they mean, the emotion in their words is curtailed. For example, when a teenage girl is receiving a text message from her boyfriend, which Includes words like: â€Å"I love you, I missed you†, etc., she might be exited, but she won’t be sure if that is sincere. But if the same words are spoken face to face, they will be able to decipher their body language and right or wrong intentions. Texting has also negative consequences when it comes to grammar and spelling, because people simply do not know how to write formally and accurately. Grammar, spelling, syntax, abbreviation, they do not matter anymore, which is why texting is more popular in the younger generation. For example, a teenager who is used to write informally is more likely to fail grade in formal writing exam. When a word from a text messages is used in an inappropriate situation, like business email, it may seem unprofessional or simply be interpreted as a lack of intelligence. The most important reason why I believe texting affect our lives is because it easily distracts us. When you are always trying to be in two places at  once, you are really not in neither. For example, if we are sitting in class, the teacher is talking, and someone’s phone goes off. Everyone looks around wildly and the person does all he or she can to try to silence the phone. Some may wonder who could text student during school hours, but most likely was another student texting to each other. That student tried to pay attention in class and at the same time text someone else. As a result he has learned nothing and scattered the attention of other students. Texting seems to be not harmful at first glance. However, after careful consideration of the topic is worth considering frequent use of texting. Subconsciously may be the cause of many unwanted and unnecessary problems.

Joyces treatment of Epiphanies Essay Explore Joyces treatment of Epiphanies in some of the stories you have studied. In literally every of story of Joyce studied so far we could discover one or more epiphanies. This term is generally used as a description of any sudden moments of understanding or sense of revelation. Joyce himself once described them as sudden spiritual manifestations, whether in the vulgarity of speech or gesture or in a memorable phase of the mind itself. I will try to fathom these epiphanies and Joyces use of them in the following. The story I am going to start with is An Encounter, which happens to be at an early stage of Joyces chronological order in Dubliners childhood. It mainly deals with a bunch of younger school boys, who live a rather sheltered childhood in catholic Dublin, reading stories about the Wild West, playing Indian fights, and having parents who go to eight-oclock mass every morning. Inspired by the stories read in their Wild West booklets, Leo Dillon, Mahony and the narrator decide to have their own little adventure and plan a day out of school, playing truant and going to see the so called Pigeon House at the other end of Dublin. However, in the next morning they are starting their journey without Leo Dillon. Mahony freely comments: Come along. I knew Fattyd funk it. When the two boys, after a long voyage, still havent arrived at their destination, they agree to give up their initial plan and just to rest some time on a bench in a field. After a few calm minutes Mahony and the Narrator discover an older man approaching at the far end of the field, shabbily dressed and walking with one hand upon his hip and a stick in the other hand. Having arrived at the bench with the two young boys on it, he wishes a good-day and starts to talk about the weather. Suggesting the boys that the happiest time of ones life was undoubtedly ones schoolboy days, the bores Mahony and the narrator, who nevertheless keep silent. In the following, the old man talks, mainly to the narrator, about literature and, from there, changes the subject to totties. He expresses a very liberal point of view about young peoples lives Every boy, he said, has a little sweetheart. Silence follows a long monologue of the old man about young girls and other things the speaker admits not actually to understands, which implies us that it could be about sexual allusions as the two boys are still quite young. The man stands up and walks to the near end of the field. Arrived there, he does something that wakes Mahonys interest: I say! Look what he is doing and a bit later I say Hes a queer old josser which suggests us that the man might be, excited by two little boys, masturbating just a few meters away from them. Some minutes later, he comes back and again starts a monologue, but it seems he has forgotten his recent liberalism: In language influenced by sadism he states that school boys should be whipped and whipped again, especially if they told lies about their sweethearts, he would give them such a whipping as no boy ever got in this world. Calmly, the narrator departs, obviously worried by behaviour and stories of the old man, and joins Mahony who has gone away, into the field, earlier. Together they leave the place. Back to the epiphanies: the first one we can find is apparently the moment when Mahony finds the old man masturbating only a few meters off. No matter if the boys actually know what he is doing, it is definitely a so called sudden spiritual manifestation: they know that what the man is doing there is strange for them, and it abruptly changes the way they look at him. Although there is no physical threat for them at that moment, Mahony and the speaker feel worried and confused, and one of them even runs away after having seen this. Although directly related to the old mans behaviour linked to the first epiphany, we can find another one when he is back and talking again: the way he speaks and his opinions have changed so drastically that there must be another strange awakening in the speakers mind. We feel reminded of a definition of an epiphany mentioned earlier: It is a sudden spiritual manifestation in the vulgarity of speech and gesture. The third and last epiphany, I suggest, might be found at the very end of the story, when the boys are just about to leave, to finish their day off and start the journey back home: they now realize that they have really find out what their adventure was like: they have met a sexually sick bloke instead of having an exciting day in Dublin, visiting a sight and enjoying themselves. A second example for Joyces treatment of epiphanies could be the short story After the Race. Unlike An Encounter it deals with adolescence, and tells about what happens on a particular evening in paralysed Dublin. Four young people return to Dublin. They have just taken part in a car race, and have won the second place. The group is made up of a French man, a French-Canadian, a Hungarian and Doyle, a Dubliner. Through Doyle, Joyce shows the ambitions and aspirations of middle class Dublin. His father was a butcher, but had been fortunate enough to secure some police contracts and had become rich enough to be referred to as the merchant prince. The father has plans for his son Doyle is first sent to Cambridge, to study, where he first encounters international upper class lifestyle, not the one he knows from Dublin. Studies do not particularly interest him, and he returns to Dublin. Doyle could be called a typical rich son, and he is highly interested in music and motoring. He got to know a member of the racing team, and is now elated to be entering Dublin in the teams company. That evenings Dinner is a matter that causes great excitement in Doyles family, as it shows father and mother that the ir son has arrived arrived in the world of jet-set and international playboys, as they think. However, Joyce doesnt reject to admit that Dublin wasnt actually a metropolis as it seemed to be then: That night the city wore the mask of a capital. The company of the young men is heady. They talk loudly and gaily. And when they stroll along Stephens Green, people on the road make way for them. I think Joyce wants to imply here how much the odour of wealth and internationality are worshipped in Dublin another allusion on the paralysis he finds in Dublin in those times. They team makes its way to a yacht, where the go on celebrating themselves happily. The party continues with game where money is staked Doyle loses heavily, but who cares on such a night? The party ends up with the Hungarian, who unlike Doyle realized that this isnt his world, retired from the game, announcing Daybreak, gentlemen! In this story, we find another way of use of epiphanies: Joyce keeps it until the very end until he uses the epiphany with the Hungarian reminding the team that it is time to wake up and face the realities of a normal day. This shows Doyle that the last twelve hours were just an illusion and that he cant actually cope with the standard of these international jet-setters. He has lost far more money than he can afford and has to realize that he is just a Dubliner and that Dublin hasnt got its place in a line-up of the international capitals. Joyces use of the epiphany is remarkable, as it wasnt to the very end of the story that he effectively used it. For the whole time, Joyce left Jimmy Doyle and us in the imagination that the Dubliner could actually cope with his colleagues until he abruptly drops him out of his dream world. So far we could discover quite a different use of epiphanies in two of Joyces stories: used three times in An Encounter, opening different point of views for the boys of the day and of the old man, Joyce uses, in contrast, only one epiphany in After the Race, which in itself, however, is much sharper and more abrupt. While in After the race the epiphany is used at the very end only, they are spread wider in An Encounter. Both stories epiphanies have in common that they actually always are memorable phases of the persons minds themselves, or in Joyces words, these sudden spiritual manifestations I mentioned before.

SEDS-Saving Space Exploration Space exploration was once a fascinating part of human culture. Back in the 60’s, when getting to the moon was a top priority, and exploring the features of other planets interested people, the space program had the momentum to pull off bigger and better things. To explore stars not even in our galaxy and even possibly pull off the feat of discovering extraterrestrial life was something people only dreamed about. Once being only in the imagination, space travel is a reality. Nowadays, many people have lost interest in the space program. With people’s interests in space exploration dwindling, as well as internal problems with the NASA program, funding has been cut short, and continued development in space exploration has been stunted. SEDS, which stands for Students for the Exploration and Development of Space, is one of the programs that is trying to bring the space program back to the prestige it held in the 60’s and is also attempting to regenerate public interest in space exploration. SEDS was founded in 1980 at MIT and Princeton and consists of an international group of high school, undergraduate, and graduate students from different educational backgrounds who are to promote the development and exploration of space as a whole (www.SEDS.org). One of the unique aspects about the organization is its dedication to being a youth-oriented organization. On the organization’s main website, the SEDS mission statement says SEDS supports a network of students across many of the nation’s top colleges. The mission statement also says the organization encourages young people who are interested in space to become a member of their organization. The SEDS mission statement also states by becomin... ...hives. The three chapters of SEDS that were analyzed all have their own qualities, and in one way or another contribute with the goal SEDS has set for the organization. All three chapters have flaws, but looking at whether the chapters did what they were supposed to do the chapters, for the most part, accomplished their goal. Information was provided from credible sources, as the information helps people become informed of space exploration. The goal of getting people physically involved with projects of space exploration is not completely fulfilled because of the lack of depth the descriptions of the projects have, and the lack of information of how to get involved in those projects. However, the overall goal of saving space exploration can be accomplished if SEDS uses their chapters wisely and continues to expand their organization across colleges nation-wide.

In Othello, Iago used Roderigo, tricked Othello, and mistreated the female characters in the play. Iago helps develop the theme of jealousy throughout the play by exploiting some of the major characters. The truths about some characters are shown clearly to the audience which helps them establish their opinions and feelings about them. Shakespeare uses pathos to get his reader’s point of view of a character. In the beginning of the play, the audience was able to discover that Iago was misusing Roderigo for his own benefit. He was taking his money and lying about loyalty. Iago could care less about Roderigo; all he could think was to get back at Othello and release his jealousy towards him and Cassio. At this point, the audience feels sympathy for Roderigo and somehow relate to his pain. Having to live without someone you love dearly can lead to dramatic conclusions, like the one Roderigo was thinking of. â€Å"It is silliness to live, when to live is torment.† (I, iii, 305) Even though Iago acts like a loyal friend to Roderigo and promises him he will get Desdemona for him, the audience knows he is only taking advantage of him. Because of Iago, Roderigo is feeding off of his jealousy towards Othello, and doing everything Iago tells him to do for a woman he will never have. In contrast, tricking people into thinking that false statements are true and going out of your way to hurt someone is another flaw Iago relinquishes; this time, on the star of the play. He tricks Othello into thinking that his wife is cheating on him with his best lieutenant. Knowing this false fact, Othello is devastated and his jealousy towards Cassio builds greatly. Every little thing that Iago hints at increases Othello’s jealousy by another level. â€Å"She did deceive her father, marrying you; / And when she seem’d to shake and fear your looks/ She lov’d them most.† (III, iii, ). However, Othello falls into â€Å"Honest Iago’s† trap and considers him a loyal and trustworthy friend. The audience would think otherwise. This shows the readers that Othello is naà ¯ve and easily jumps to conclusion without even talking to his wife. Nevertheless, the audience cannot help but feel sympathy towards him for being so dim-witted, yet gullible. Lastly, Iago uses another trick up his sleeve aiming at the ladies in the play. He mentally, emotionally, and physically abuses the women just to go forth with his plan. Iago ruins Desdemona’s happiness for his own selfish reason and jealousy takes complete control of him once he starts to include innocent women in his malevolent plan. Not only he, but Othello as well gets badly influenced by jealousy and ends up vowing to murder his wife. In comparison, Iago stabs Emilia for revealing the truth. â€Å"I hold my peace, sir? no; / No, I will speak as liberal as the north; / Let heaven and men and devils, let them all, / All, all, cry shame against me, yet I’ll speak.† (V, ii, ). These actions create pathos for these two women and the audience knows that these women were never wrong. Even though Desdemona and Emilia were one of the major components on building the theme, for them to be accused and have their rights taken away helps the audience understand the theme of jealousy better. Shakespeare uses pathos in this play to develop the theme of jealousy. He makes the antagonist and his actions the key point of displaying jealousy and exploiting the major characters in the play. Shakespeare describes to the audience how the influence of jealousy can affect so many people and make them do unlawful acts. Similar to how Iago was disloyal to Roderigo, dishonest to Othello, and abusive to Emilia and Desdemona. However, the truth about these characters helps the audience understand them better so that they can create their own opinion about them.
